We woke up early in the morning and then my mother started to purchase some food to prepare the big dinner. I helped my mother to bring the food. Before dinner, there was a tradition in my hometown.

We needed to bring the chicken to take a bow to our ancestors, showing our respect and gratitude. When the dinner’s ready, we ate happily and talked a lot. been in lots of diners, and theyve always seemed to be warm, busy, friendly, happy places. Thats why, on a recent Monday night, I stopped in a diner for a cup of coffee. I was returning home after an all day car trip and needed something to help me make the last forty-five miles. A diner at midnight,however,was not the place I had expected. It was diffhrent, and lonely. My Toyota pulled to a halt in front of the dreary gray aluminum building that looked like an old railroad car. A half-lit neon sign sputtered the message, _Fresh baked goods daily,_ on the surface of the rain-slick parking lot. Only a half dozen cars and a battered pickup were scattered around the lot. An empty paper coffee cup made a hollow scraping sound as it rolled in small circles on one cement step close to the diner entrance. I pulled hard at the balky glass door, and it hanged shut behind me. The diner was quiet when I entered. As there was no hostess on duty, only the faint odor of stale grease and the dull hum of an empty refrigerated pastry case greeted me. I looked around for a place to sit. The outside walls were lined with empty booths which squatted back to back in their orange vinyl upholstery. On each speckled beige-and-gold table were the usual accessories. The kitchen hid mysteriously behind two swinging metal doors with round windows. I glanced through these windows but could see only a part to the large, apparently deserted cooking area. Facing the kitchen doors was the counter. I approached the length of Formica and slid onto one of the cracked vinyl in soldier like straight lines in front of it.

这天是中国的节日——春节，这是一个喜庆的节日，每家每户都洋溢着满足喜悦的笑容，亲人们从百忙之中抽身团聚在一起。吃着热腾腾的饺子，揣着热腾腾的心。一大早起来就兴奋的不得了，穿上喜庆的新衣，父母带着我挨家挨户的串门，给长辈们拜年，最让我们小孩子兴奋的，应该是收到压岁钱了吧，即使有大部分的红票子被家长拿去“保管”，但心里还是美滋滋的。

可是，在人们喜迎春节时，有一户人家不太一样。

离我们家有两栋楼远的一户人家，在这个喜庆的日子里显得格外冷清。从他们家里传不出饭菜的飘香，传不出老人小孩嬉笑的声音。他们家门口没有来来往往串门的亲戚邻居，也没有回家团聚的亲人。在七大姑八大姨的议论中才得知，那户人家，哦，现在应该说是那位老人了。他是位空巢老人，老伴很早就离开他了，膝下的子女早就不回来看望他了。刚开始邻居还很同情他，隔三差五到他家送米送油陪他说话，可是老人好像沉浸在悲伤中无法自拔，面部肌肉好像早已瘫痪，扬不起一丝笑容。慢慢的，老人就从人们的记忆中消散了。今天本是圆满的日子，可这位老人好像对节日没有什么概念。我们应该看不到他看着老伴儿的遗像揩眼泪的样子，也应该看不到他数着时间等子女到来的样子。老人应该只能远远的望着远处家庭幸福和谐的样子了吧。

本来很开心的我，莫名开始感到伤感，这个春节的红色也好像暗了一点。最后，我鼓起勇气，拿起一个大大的“福”子，跑到老人家门口，把“福”字倒过来贴在上面。刚回头，就看到了从外面回来的那位老人，是啊，他那么瘦弱，岁月无情的在他脸上刻下了一道道痕迹。我慌张地跑开了，却清楚的看到老人的眼角那颗晶莹的泪珠和他上扬的嘴角。从此，无论什么时候，从老人家门经过，看到的都是一个没有沾一点灰尘的“福”字。

“姑娘要花，小子要炮。老头儿要顶新毡帽，老太太要件新棉袄。”在我母亲的记忆中，那个物资匮乏的年代，每到春节，就会有一朵红花戴，到我的母亲有儿有女，也延续了这一传统。记忆中，每年从腊八节开始，过年的氛围就逐渐浓厚起来了，等到腊月二十三过了小年，扫了尘，就是正式置办年货的时候了。年底的集市总是分外热闹，农村的蔬菜几乎不需要另外采购，家里的鸡鸭养了一年也可以开吃了，故而赶集更多的是买花、买炮、买新衣、买春联、买干果、买零食……这时候最开心的无疑就是孩子们了。东西买回家，父母开始准备蒸馒头、蒸包子、炸丸子，孩子们就只有两件事，除了吃就是玩。

过年，母亲通常都不会让我们帮忙的，怕我们说错话，比如我们说“太多了”“吃不了”“不好吃”等等。说错话总会挨顿训，但我们也乐得自在。新出锅的黄团子一手拿一个，我吃掉了豆沙馅，再跑到没人的地方偷偷把剩下的皮扔掉。在上衣和裤子的口袋装上瓜子、花生，我就能出去疯玩半天，揣两盒擦炮也能引来一群小伙伴。

家里每年都会蒸很多很多的馒头，足以吃到二月二龙抬头。到了今天，随着时代的发展，我们的生活变好了，几乎什么都能吃得到，再也不用提前准备那么多的年货，但是每每想到儿时过年的情景，还是会不由自主地傻乐。会回忆起妈妈把面盆埋在柴火下面保温“发面”;会想起哥哥用“呲花”把我的新衣烧个洞，惹得我哇哇哭;会回忆起我过年吃饺子时兴奋又忐忑的心情，吃到钱币和蜜糖会兴奋得蹦起来，吃到麦麸和辣椒会苦着脸看着别人笑;还会想起大年三十那天的晚上，爸爸在院子里挂满小彩灯，满院子放烟花，一家五口坐在同一张床上裹着棉被看春节联欢晚会，在零点倒计时的时候，我们在屋里给父亲数数，父亲在院子里拿烧火棍点燃那串盘在晾衣绳上的两万响的大鞭炮……
